My First Craft Fair!

Well I have been busy this week getting ready for my first craft fair, yikes! I have never really thought about selling at a craft fair before? Well not until now anyway...a woman emailed me to let me know that she liked the items that I make and sell in my Etsy shop and thought I might like to sell at an upcoming craft fair that she was organizing. After contacting her, I thought why not give it a try? I am still not able to teach because of the strike so I knew I had the time to devote to such a venture. I suppose I am a little nervous still being a newbie in selling my wares but of course I am hoping to sell like mad :)

Etsy Withdrawal Symptoms?

Okay, I am heading off to the cottage for a week and I am already getting worried about leaving my Etsy Store. I will not have access to the internet for 7 days! I do not think this anxiety is healthy, who knew that starting an Etsy store would also be the onset of an addiction.
I just need to take a deep breathe and find myself a mantra that is along the lines of "ohm, my Etsy shop will be there when I return, ohm" :).
I am sure that I will forget all about my addiction to Etsy once I am off beach-combing, hiking around or boating? Well may be forget is a little harsh, perhaps I will just find contentment in the peace of being at the cottage and the knowledge that I will be returning to the city and my computer before I know it!

Made a Sale!

Well I woke up this Monday morning to a surprise! I made my first Etsy sale :). I was so excited I packaged up the tote and shipped it that morning. It was such a great feeling to know that someone else liked my work and wanted to own something I created.

For the Love of Sewing

This summer I finally created my Etsy shop TatteredSlippers. It has been an interesting journey trying to figure out how to create a banner, trying to curb my computer frustrations which are complicated by my lack of computer skills and learning how to take my love of sewing and turn it into a business. I am trying not to feel disappointed in not making a sale yet. I have met some incredibly creative people in the Etsy forums and even created a beautiful treasury once that led to a couple sales for another Etsy shop owner. It seems that I may have the knack for making sales for others :).
My shop is stocked with items that were first created for myself. I sewed myself a lovely wrap skirt that I could wear in dance class. I am a ballet teacher and just got tired of trying to find wrap skirts that were a colour other than black and did not cost me an hours wage! Therefore, I have sewn quite a few unique wrap skirts for my shop.
I have begun to study yoga seriously with the hopes of getting certification to teach it in the near future. I wanted a unique yoga mat tote so I sewed one for myself. I loved it so much I thought I would make a few for my Etsy shop.
Other little totes and baby items were just little inspirations that came to me.
I am interested to see if sales will pick up as we get closer to Christmas?

My First Blog

So I just signed up on this site and am trying to figure this whole thing out, yikes?? Hmm I can't seem to get my page to look like I want it to? I want to add in a banner pic at the top of my page but it is way too large and I can't seem to find anywhere that will tell me how much to resize the image to? So I got tired of that and decided I might as well trying writing something and posting it so here it goes...
Well I can't seem to think of a thing to write because I have become obsessed with figuring out how to make the changes I want to my blog page, ha. Might was well just post this to see how it works...
